Arras Report

August 10, 2009

Well hello everyone.

It has been a longer week. But the first weeks of the transfer are always the longest. Arras is good, but I am really struggling with leaving behind Liege. I had a lot of fun there. The hardest thing with Arras is that it feels really lonely. It is so far away from anything else, and we never hear from other missionaries. We are kind of in the middle of nowhere.  We are like halfway between Paris and the coast, where all the action is. But we do actually have a nice apartment.

Going to Arras, France

August 3, 2009

Hey family,

So sounds like life is getting better for everyone back there.

As for me it is all the same. I am getting transferred again. I am going to ARRAS, FRANCE

My companion is Elder Villain who is a francophone. AKA, he only speaks French. That will be interesting.

Dinner Every Night

July 27, 2009

Hey Fam,

Well it sure sounds like everyone is doing a lot better. I guess dad is back to working at least a bit now. That is all good. It was good to hear that he had the chance to give a blessing to someone at the hospital and for once be on the other side of it. How is work going for Elysa. I am excited to hear about the temple trip to Nauvoo. Sounds like work is doing good for Mom too. I like it. I was also glad that you guys now have the means to be able to carry some of those big things like the couches and chairs to the dump. I know that that was always a pain before.

Week of Sickness

July 13, 2009

Hey Everyone,

Well this week has been full of sickness for us here in Belgium. On Tuesday, my companion was having really horrible stomach problems, it was actually the 3rd day in a row that it had been that way, except that it kept getting worse. Now he could barely walk anymore, so we took him to the hospital. We ended up staying there all day and got back late at night. They gave him some pills and told him to rest. That night the recently baptized member, Aurelie brought us over some really good French food to make us feel better. She made the BEST ratatouille that I have had me whole mission and some good bread, with some super good garlic Humus. And also some Belge zucchinI soup. It was really good. Well the next day my other companion the new guy, started pooping out straight blood, so of course we had to take him to the hospital too. Continue reading ‘Week of Sickness’

Just Another Week

July 6, 2009

Hey family.

Well I actually don’t feel like there is much to say this week, sadly. Not much is new. But I figured that I would send some pictures to make up for it, since I am finally at a computer that I can. More or less… today we went up to the Netherlands again for p-day. It was mainly to just spend time as a district, but also we went shopping for groceries. I ended up buying a sweatshirt too. it is very European, but I like it… it is all good. It is kind of a funny green color, lol. But now we are back in Liege. We are giving a stop smoking workshop tonight at the church, and it sounds like we are going to have a big turn out, so it sounds like I am going to be using my French public speaking skills if I have any tonight. We got a really nice PowerPoint presentation that goes through the steps. We have been working hard on it, and I think it should be cool. Unfortunately it looks like the internet is not so speedy here, so the number of pictures will be limited.
One of them is a pic with me and president woodland and his wife. Another is a pic of liege in cool lighting and a cool bridge. Another is a picture of me in a cool forest.
