Hey everyone!
So another week is gone. This was a longer week and a little more demanding mentally. [...]
I had a cool experience with french yesterday. I was preparing a lecon and I needed to check a scripture really quick. I didn’t have my scriptures out, but someone had a Book of Mormon on the desk next to me so I picked it up, looked up the scripture and then went back to studying. Then I went to check another scripture. So I did the same thing. Then a third time, I picked up the book and checked a different scripture, but this time I found a word I didn’t recognize. That is when I realized all of a sudden that this whole time I was using a french Book of Mormon and never noticed. I was understanding it so much that I didn’t have to think about it. (I was also tired, it was at 8 in the morning, but still). I am doing good with it I think.

The following is an “old fashioned” letter that Elder Curtis sent us and touched us such that we wanted to share it with everyone.

Dear Mom,
I just thought you would be interested in this song that we have in our French Cantique (hymn) books. It is a very beautiful song and I really think that you might enjoy singing it or playing it.
It is called “Souviens-toi” and it is Cantique #179 in the French Cantique book, but it isn’t translated into English so you won’t find it in your hymn book. One of my teachers knew the woman who wrote it and she has an amazing story to tell about it.

Dear family,
So, I am now 5 weeks in I believe. That is cool. I now have more time behind me then in front of me. That is cool. It has been another fast week. Everything is going good, but again, I really just don’t have a whole lot to report. I’m starting to adapt to companion more now. It is getting a lot better. [...]
So, the french is getting tougher. Starting next week it is all french, including all of our lessons and stuff. So that will be good, but at the same [time], I am starting to realize how tough it is going to be. I am sure that when I get to Belgium that it will come much faster.

Dear Family,
So, another week has passed and it was a fast one. I felt like just a few days ago I was typing an email and doing laundry, it is hard to believe that it has been a whole week. Well, I really don’t know what to say this week, not a ton of super exciting things happened, it is simply the same stuff as before. I did hear an awesome talk from Elder Holland last Sunday which I really enjoyed. It was probably one of my favorite talks EVER. It talked about relishing these moments and how they are going to last with you and stay with you forever. I really really liked it.
The highlight of the week is that I also got to meet and shake Elder Richard G. Scott’s hand. He spoke to us too, and it was interesting and had some powerful messages but I didn’t like it as much as Elder Holland’s. He did draw some funny pictures and joked alot. It was a good time. That was on Tuesday that he came.

Dear family,
So the highlight of the week is that I got to go to San Francisco. It was very fun and way nice to get out and see the world outside of the MTC and Utah. The air is so much better in San Fran, the air here in Utah might kill me. I have such a hard time sleeping because I am coughing so much. I am sick again, but then again so is my whole district. I guess in a way it is just inevitable. I mean if you take 3,500 people from all around the world and from every continent and stick them into a self contained world for long enough, everyone is bound to get sick with something. I have some sort of cold or flu or something, so I am just coughing and and have a stuffed nose and stuff.
