Got Transferred

March 30, 2009

Ok, so this week is finally over. What a weird week!

I got transfer news this morning. I am leaving. I will be heading down to Lille, France. I am actually pretty excited for it. Lille is a very big city, and it is France. I am really excited to be serving in France. It is so much different. It is funny how much things change when you cross the imaginary lines that they call borders. This week I went up to a city called Erquelinnes (or something like that) to meet with our Ward Mission Leader, and he lives on the Dutch side of Belgium (Dutch side is called Flanders and the French side is called Wallonia). There is literally a line and it is completely different. It is cleaner. The road instantly gets wider and all this. It is crazy.

Wow 6 Months already

March 23, 2009

So yeah… it is 6 months starting Tomorrow.

That is crazy. It feels about the same to me as to you. It feels like a long time, but also really short too. But i am 1/4 of the way through. Transfers are next week and I am not sure whether or not I will stay. It is hard to say.

We have a baptism this week on Friday. His name is DeoGracias. He is awesome. He is from Congo, Africa. He is so excited to be baptized. I am looking forward to that. This dude is really cool. I have seen a huge change in heart of him in the past week or so, and it has made all the difference. So that will probably be the highlight of my week.

Long Disappointing Week

March 16, 2009

Hey everyone!

So, what a crazy long week. I had two exchange days this week and they were in a row. These are days where you go and work with other missionaries for a day. You switch companionships pretty much. I really don’t like them. I don’t get much from them and you just have to learn to adjust to a new companion for another day, and you don’t get to sleep in your own bed either, which is the worst. But I had someone come down Wednesday night and then we worked on Thursday night, while my companion went up to Charleroi, Belgium. Well, the day was just crazy, we taught a ton of lessons, and met back up with this old investigator. Well, I didn’t understand anything he said, but that is because my companion said that he was speaking just really deep slang and swearing. We were only there for about 20 minutes, but he sucked down 4 cigarettes. Anyway, he got dropped as an investigator. Then we taught Alexis, and it went good, and we promised to come hang out with him today, but its not going to happen because P-Day is almost over, and we are still in Mons.

Rough Week

March 9, 2009

Dear family,

So this week has been a tough one. Most of our baptisms fell through. Cecile’s husband got mad about the baptism and wont let her do it. The same thing with Tyler’s, his dad found out and wont let her do it. The same thing pretty much happened to Alexis too, his mom, wont ever let him go to church. Deogracias pretty much just gave up on life, we might just end up dropping him. My companion is testing my patience, and he has been sick all week. But he still thinks he is all that, and the sad thing is that he really isn’t. All of our investigators have told me that they don’t like him or how he talks to them. He is German, his sense of humor really isn’t funny one bit. Well, the one cool thing is that I had an exchange with elder Milliken, which was like the best day on my mission ever. We went over to Alexis house and he was cool with us. We taught a great lesson about Moroni, and then we played the guitar with him. he really like that. He wants me to come over without my normal companion more often. Cecile said the same thing to me. I have 2 exchanges this week. One here in Mons and the other in Liege.

Miracles in Mons

March 2, 2009

Hello all,

So we have seen some hardcore miracles here in Mons this week. This place is about to get translated! Like the city of Enoch! Ok well they actually have a ways  to go before that, they would have to stop smoking weed, and probably demolish the red-light districts, and work out the stupid bus systems. But they are on their way. We met this miracle dude just 4 days ago. We were waiting  for the bus and he started talking to me, so we chatted for a while (btw i learned that the verb for that is, “bavarder” yesterday) and then got an appointment later that day. He ended up living just like 5 houses away from ours and so we taught him, and like instantly he felt the spirit. He is so in touch with it. So he wanted us to come back the next day, so we did. Talked to him more, and he just kept telling us how much joy that this is bringing him in his life, so we committed him to baptism and he is set for the 27th of march. He came to church yesterday and loved it. Then last night as we were getting ready for bed, he called us just to tell us that he is reading his Book of Mormon. Lol, he is so funny. And he loves helping me with my French.
